Teresa L. Deshields, Ph.D., ABPP is the Director of Supportive Oncology at Rush University Cancer Center and a Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and the Department of Medicine at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. She is a clinical health psychologist, and her clinical practice is devoted to treating cancer patients and survivors and their family members, throughout the cancer continuum – diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, end of life, and grief. Dr. Deshields has spoken to audiences of various disciplines across the country on the topic of compassion fatigue/burnout, and she has published several papers on the topic in peer-reviewed journals.
